UFC 90: Sanchez/Alves For Title Shot, Swick Added
MMA Rated brings us the following tidbits regarding UFC 90:

Dana White announced that Mike Swick will be added to the card but stopped short at saying who his opponent will be.

Chicago is the UFC's #1 market for pay-per-view revenue.

When all is said and done, UFC 90 will be the highest-grossing event in the 28-year history of the Allstate Arena, smashing Wrestlemania 22's record of 2.4 million dollars.

As of Noon today, UFC 90's gate has already reached the two million dollar mark.

White said Anderson Silva could potentially move up to light heavyweight again if he defeats Patrick Cote on October 25th.

Furthermore, he even hinted at a possible GSP vs. Silva bout at an undetermined catch weight.

The winner of the Diego Sanchez vs. Thiago Alves bout will receive a welterweight title shot.

Speaking of Alves, he vowed to have no more issues making weight at 170 lbs.

The Alves vs Sanchez fight is gonna bring down the house! This fight can end in a hurray both ways...I really believe that Diego is gonna surprise Thiago and maybe KO him. I see a very focused Diego Sanchez now....he won't beat GSP but he's better now than he's been in the past. On another note, if GSP can take Anderson down, it's gonna be a long night for the 4 the Spider...Anderson Silva is a great, great fighter but I'm still backing my man GSP!

Alves/Sanchez should be a great one. Can see it going three, with the winner the man who can control the cage, pressing more dominant positions more often. Sanchez is a strong kid with a lot of heart and good skills, but after seeing what Alves did to Matt Hughes, I'd lean toward Thiago.

Waddup JCota1, I think we've been over this before and you know how I feel about this one (lol... trying not to sound confrontational). Sanchez is going down in the 2nd after putting up a great fight.

Sure, just like Kenny Florian was getting a title shot for beating Huerta.

I'm a huge Sanchez fan, so I'm biased, but I still definately beleive that he's takin this match. If Alves can make weight (note: IF), this may be the best match of the year. Neither one of them ever seem to stop going 100miles an hour when they fight. Strength: Alves Striking: Prob Alves (but, as of late, who knows) Jits: Sanchez Grappling: Sanchez Heart: Both ---- overall agression? BOTH --- This one's hard to predict. Critics would prob say Alves, but if ur a Sanchez fan, then u know that when he sets his mind to something, and doesn't over-analyze it (i.e. Kos - he overanalyzed it) then he's about as solid as they come. My money's on Diego via unan decision. THAT SAID, both better up their game, cuz GSP looked like BRUCE LEE against Fitch. Right now, neither of them have shown enough for me to honestly say that they'd beat him. This fight between the two of them should give us a better idea. I just hope they go all the way and don't leave us guessing as to who should have won, cuz then we'd have a Silva/Cote fight on our hands - (IMO) a "no question".

I HOPE DIEGO THROTTLES THE ENTIRE TIME. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM MOUNT, AND THEN THROW DOWN THOSE ELBOWS AND FISTS with HATE! Alves's time has come........it's time to take him off his high horse. I just pray that he makes weight, so this fight happens. If he doesn't, then they better check that fool for roids, cuz that's the biggest 170lber in MMA. He should be a MW---hell, he said he walks around at 205!
